This scroll is based on a charter for the city of Canterbury. It was awarded Feb. 5, 2022. The illumination was done by Seong Myeong Su Daesaseong. I did the calligraphy and seal.
Tools and Materials
- Oak gall ink
- Cotten crochet yarn
- Modern traditional recipe sealing wax
- Two part epoxy putty
- Pewter, brass
The seal tag is made from two plied cords, one black and one blue. The cords were knotted together and then sealed over the knot. I carved a seal matrix out of two part epoxy putty and then sand cast it in pewter. A loop made from sheet brass was glued to the back of the matrix so it could be suspended from a cord.
