Teaching Flirting for European Dance

I recently taught a class on flirting for European Dance at Iris Faire here in Meridies. I taught the same class for Virtual Courtesan College 2020, which resulted in a lot of really good feedback and this iteration of the class.

The class originally covered techniques for flirting and how not to make your partner or partners uncomfortable, which were the main points I found most important. One very helpful question I got during the VCC class was about what to do if your partner makes you uncomfortable, so I incorporated that in the most recent version. (None of the times I have been uncomfortable while dancing have been flirting-related, as far as I can recall, so it didn’t even occur to me that would be something that I needed to cover.)

I’m hoping to teach this class in person someday, but I think the theoretical portion translates pretty well to the virtual format. I’ll probably recruit another dancer who I am very comfortable with to be my demonstration partner if I get to do an in-person class, because I don’t want to make any students uncomfortable by using them for an example. I do have the slides (which include some photo and video examples) available at this link so those who are interested can look them over.
