Tablet Weaving Attempt

Finally warped up the lovely loom I got for my birthday, and have started on some tablet weaving. I went to a class on it at Gulf Wars about five years ago, but otherwise haven’t done any. The book is one I got from a used bookstore a number of years ago.

Thoughts so far:

  • I desperately need to improve my warping
  • This wool really wants to stick together and not make the shed at all easy to find
  • I need to buy some wood tablets since these paper ones want to tear

Overall, I think I’m doing decently well for having tablet woven literally once before. Especially because I picked the most complicated pattern I saw. While this is not a great decision, it is definitely on brand. I did basically the same thing with bobbin lace and dance reconstruction and embroidery.

I think once I get this to resemble a pattern more than a lumpy mess, I will try the same pattern again with thinner and smoother threads.
