Month: June 2011

Summer Projects

So, I realize that I haven’t posted anything in a month of Sundays…I’m going to try to be better about keeping up with the blog this summer.  I have a big list of projects to accomplish this summer.

At the end of the school year, I got a new job at another school.  The new school is fancier than my old school, where we were the jeans and t-shirts types of teachers.  This means that I need some new work clothes!  I also got several fun project-y books for my birthday, so I also have some fun mundane projects to do. So with that being said, here is my list for summer that I can think of…

  • Make some new work clothes
  • Make a project or two from my new books
    • stuffed owl and bunny
    • fabric bracelet
    • pincushion
  • DragonCon Costume(s)
    • Raistlin…started: I’ve made robes and a scroll case
    • Maybe something else, Scott and I are playing Lego Star Wars III, and I’m tempted, once again, by Star Wars costuming
  • SCA stuff
    • Continue working on my Eleanor gown, my new goal is Coronation 9/10/11 (cool date!)
    • Complete a scroll
    • Try to finish my Sforza scroll that is 2/3’s done and has been for two years!
  • Miscelaneous
    • Make a Fraktur
    • Puzzle Cube for Jude
    • Build some more paper buildings for my new classroom
      • Finish New England Village
      • Empire State Building
      • Roman Fort
      • Medieval Castle
      • Victorian Houses
    • Finish Jude’s Quilt (In honor of my Aunt Sandra, I’m going to try to finish it before he turns 40!!) Done 9/11, only a little after summer

That is all I can think of now, I’m sure there are more projects lurking…

Here is the owl and bunny!

And here is the puzzle cube I made for Jude.  One of my students had one from a park she went to and I thought it would be really cool made with pictures of the family.  I found the instructions online (of course!) here: http://www.chicaandjo.com/2008/05/08/magic-folding-wooden-photo-cubes/
