Victorian Hat

Since no one knew that I was supposed to be queen Victoria at Dragon Con in 2009, I decided to just be generic Victorian Steampunk lady and made a Victorian bonnet to go with my copper gown.

Here is the hat. It is from the fabulous Lynn McMaster's pattern. Her instructions were wonderful and this hat was actually very simple to make.

I used some leftover fabric from my dress and a scrap of black I bought from the remnants table at Joann's. The feathers were from the floral department of Joann's and the net puffs are from instructions in the pattern.

I just kept sticking stuff in the hat until it was full enough for my liking.

My hair is really messy in these pictures, when I actually wear the whole ensemble, I try to do better. If the hat is at a better angle, the bow hangs down straighter.

And I think I found the coolest backdrop at DragonCon!! (Plus, in the dealer's room I found these awesome spectcles and magnifiers to up the Steampunk quotient on my costume)
