This scroll was based on an 11th century copy of the herbarium of Pseudo-Apuleius (Bodleian Library MS. Bodl. 130 f26r). The original depicted a blackberry vine, but I changed it to a hazel branch both for the award and because the recipient’s device contains hazel leaves.
