Illumination 2012

I haven’t done a whole lot of illumination this year.  My new job and being pregnant has really taken it out of me.

5oth Anniversary Fraktur

I decided to do a 50th anniversary Fraktur for my mother and father in-laws.  Unfortunately, instead of finishing it by their anniversary, I got it done for Christmas.   My mother-in-laws family is from Scandinavia originally and she really likes Scandinavian art.  I thought the Fraktur looked rather similar, so I thought that would be pretty appropriate.

And here it is framed:

Adela’s Laurel Scroll

Adela’s Laurel scroll was a project put together by Lorenzo.  He did the sketching and drawing, Allesandra did the Calligraphy and gold leaf, and I did the painting.

Apprentice contract

Lorenzo agreed to take me on as his apprentice (YAY!).  I already had a green belt from my last apprenticeship to Serena, also, being really pregnant, I didn’t want to make a super-fancy belt that would only fit for a month.  So he asked me to make my own contract.  He gave me the text and I decided to to a Cadeau style manuscript.  It was the first time I’ve done one and I really like the style.  I definitely think I will do more in the future.
