Terza Rima: In praise of Gwydion Braich Hir, Baron of Bryn Madoc

An artist clad in black and red
Who held a painter’s brush in hand
Found six bright pearls upon his head
And in his care a tract of land
Whose people looked to him to lead
The soldiers of their hardy band.
His word he gave, and so in deed
He took the sword up to defend
The tree that grew from Madoc’s seed
Whose branches to the sky extend
Through summer’s heat and winter’s cold
Until the world itself should end.
He has become, through actions bold,
A baron in purpure and gold.

This is a poem in terza rima dedicated to Gwydion Braich Hir, Baron of Bryn Madoc. It was performed by Oengus mac GillaDubain at Bryn Madoc’s Twelfth Night on January 9, 2010.
